Dev Log 6 - Testing
Dev Log 6 - Testing
This week Scale Racer was tested with a small audience. In general, the feedback was good. There was a large issue with some testers in that the screen appeared corrupted. I have no idea what could cause that, but it looked like some kind of memory corruption. The plugin I'm using for drawing vectors for the speedometer is quite optimized - maybe too optimized. I wonder if it's widely compatible with various browsers. I'll try disabling the speedometer for now and see if it improves anything.
Most players felt it needed sound effects and the graphics glitch fixed.
Players liked the graphics (when not corrupted) and the control.
Overall it was a useful testing session with a lot of helpful feedback.
After the graphics glitch is fixed, I'll probably shelve the project for now. I think it proved to be an excellent proof of concept for 2D scaling games graphically speaking. I'm already coming up with new ideas and uses for this effect. I think despite its obvious retro influence, it looks unique today.
I'd think longer about using splines again though.
